Holding on to memories

Even though I'm pretty good about keeping up with things I've started, I'm not naive. Maintaining baby books might not be something I can do.

My mother and many others can tell you that it is easy to keep up the first baby's baby book, but for some reason, baby #2 and subsequent sibilings don't get the same level of attention. The more kids there are running around, the more difficult it is to pay so much time and attention to documenting the miuntiae of one child's life.

Of course, it's not minutiae, is it? Every first, every milestone, they are each and every one precious and wonderful. The problem is just getting them into that damn baby book!

I've decided to pass on the baby book. With the children born after this first one, baby books would only serve as painful reminders of how little I resemble "Supermom" for me, and nagging doubts that they're not as important or loved as the eldest for them.

I think I might do a scrapbook instead. I'm pretty good about photographing momentous events, so I could slap those into a scrapbook. I won't try to do an over-the-top scrapbook, where hours are spent on every page, but more of a photo album with other keepsakes and notes inside.
