I'm not very good at dodging bullets apparently. If there is a pregnancy ailment on the books, I've got it! The only thing I've successfully dodged so far is gestational diabetes *knock on wood*.
My newest ailment, which I've been dealing with for maybe 2 or 3 weeks now is pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome. I guess it's the same thing as regular carpal tunnel, only it's brought on by being pregnant and retaining fluids. A word of advice: NEVER allow yourself to develop real carpal tunnel.
Carpal tunnel is a battle with numbness and pain. It started out as my right arm falling asleep, usually at night. It would "wake up" in the morning after an hour or two, complete with the pins and needles sensation. Then the waking up period started taking longer and longer until my arm just never woke up. Then the pain set in.
The situation has limited itself to my right arm (of course, my dominant arm), but it occasionally threatens to spread to my left arm as well. I feel like a bird with a broken wing, and having so much pain and discomfort in my dominant arm is making me not want to do a thing.
I might have to start maternity leave earlier than originally planned due to this malady, so we'll see. Just another reason I wish the baby were already here!
