I have always considered myself the queen of naming things. When we would play pretend games as children, I was always the person naming our imaginary characters. Hell, my favorite part of writing a story is giving it a title!
For some reason, trying to find a baby name for a girl that my husband and I both agree on is insanely difficult.
First of all, I insist on something unusual. Popular and trendy names are automatically out the window. I grew up with a generation of Jennifers, Michelles, Heathers, etc. The way I see it is if you share a name with more than 5 other people in your school, your parents did you a disservice.
Secondly, I would prefer the name have some kind of meaning, or elicit some kind of emotional response.
While my husband does like many of the unusual names I toss at him, he tends to favor the ones that are a tad more unusual. This is fine, except I prefer the somewhat more unusual names on my list to be middle names, and the only slightly unusal names as first names.
So baby, just know that whatever name you wind up with, Mom and Dad are struggling with getting it just right. We want a name as special as you are -- not just another Emma or Olivia.
